Our Mission
The Toronto Choral Society provides a friendly yet challenging environment where singers can develop their musical ability, learn choral classics and music of Toronto’s many cultures, present concerts, and perform at special events for the benefit of the community.
Our Values
The Toronto Choral Society:
recognizes the positive role of choral music in the lives of individuals and communities
celebrates the diversity of the city, its music and its musicians
participates as a community partner in activities that benefit the people of Toronto
honours special events in the history of the city, as it has done since its founding in 1845
Our Principles
The Toronto Choral Society:
welcomes new members from across the Greater Toronto Area
accepts new members without auditions
encourages members to develop their musical ability through both regular and special rehearsals
chooses a challenging repertoire of traditional choral classics and music of many cultures
presents at least two major ticketed concerts every year
performs at special events for the benefit of the Toronto community
engages professional Canadian musicians to perform in concert with the choir
sponsors the Peggy Ann Walpole Women’s Choir and North 44° Ensemble
involves choir members as active volunteers at all levels of choir administration
manages its activities responsibly through an elected Board of Directors
maintains its status as a registered charitable organization
