And what a gala it was…

with all proceeds supporting the culture, spirit and magic of TCS.

Featuring a performance by Artistic Director, Geoffrey Butler, Rodrigo Chavez, Cassava Latin Band Leader, and Dwight ‘the Pan-man’ Belgrove, steel drum musician.

It will come as no surprise that our choir, like so many arts organizations, suffered the financial ravages caused by the pandemic with, at one point, losing 70% of our ticket sales revenue!

And to further complicate matters, our regular expenses have increased with inflation. This new financial reality has meant that we must find other ways to restore our coffers to pre-pandemic levels, so we can continue to deliver the outstanding performances for which the TCS is known. Thus, TCS Celebrates the Sun was spawned…

Thanks to the hard work of volunteers, this silent auction/musical gala was a fantastic evening, and a successful fundraiser for the choir! Some of the hot ticket items during the auction were: a week at a Florida home cottage, artwork from our TCS Treasurer, voice lessons with Geoff, and a sailboat cruise around the Toronto harbour.

Geoff performed a few fun-in-the-sun songs with Rodrigo’s serenading guitar. We were treated to a beautiful song of love and friendship from a terrific TCS trio, and the Caribbean rhythms of Dwight’s steel drum.

Many enjoyed just how good the food was, in part due to the generous contributions of some local restaurants. If you’re looking for a good place for dinner in Toronto’s east-end, you might consider these supportive restaurants, all within walking distance of Eastminster: Auld Spot, Messini, Papyrus, Sher-E-Punjab, and Soulas.

Here too is a comprehensive list of our gracious donors that made the entire event a drumming success: By The Way Restobar, Tafelmusik, Swing Toronto Dance Studio, Modern Optical, Fresh Floral Creations, Peter Kristian Mose Piano Lessons, Long and McQuade, Grayscale Fine Portraits, Copy Cat Reproductions, Second Cup (Danforth/Hampton Avenues), Hello Fresh, Auld Spot, Sher-E-Punjab, Soulas, Messini, Papyrus, Justyna Kozlowska, NAGI Founder and CEO, and Learning Curves Motorcycle Rider Training.
